I look back at this picture, and for me, it represents the peak of my X-Wing experiences. This was right before the game transitioned to its second edition, and as you can see, I was fully immersed in it. The event was called "40,000 Credits," and it was a high-energy, imaginative scenario centered around a crash site in an asteroid field. The goal? Navigate through the field, avoid intense Imperial and Rebel skirmishes, and secure as much loot as possible over six rounds.

The premise was simple yet thrilling. After a crash, debris and treasures floated amidst the asteroids. Players had to strategically maneuver through the field, scavenging and securing valuable items while dodging fierce enemy encounters. Imperial and Rebel forces were clashing at full scale, making the environment hazardous and exhilarating.

I had some helpers with me, and we set up an AI system to control the Imperial and Rebel forces, adding an unpredictable element to the battle. It felt like a miniature battlefield, alive with the chaos of a galactic conflict. In total, we had about 12 players involved, which gave the whole setup an incredible, lively atmosphere.

The setup itself was massive. There was a large-scale Imperial customs frigate, dozens of Rebel and Imperial fighters, and fleshed-out forces available for players to control. One unique feature was the interior of an asteroid, where players could fly their ships in to hunt for hidden resources. Inside the asteroid, we had multiple AT-ATs positioned, adding to the high-stakes feel of the event.

This event took place back in 2017, and it’s a testament to the passion and planning that went into building each element. It was also the perfect excuse to bring out those epic-scale ships that usually sit on shelves, waiting for an occasion like this. I try to host an event like this every year, something ambitious that brings the community together. Since then, I've done Stalingrad, the Terminator-themed game last year, and am currently gearing up for a Rogue One event.

Reflecting on it, “40,000 Credits” was a memorable peak in my X-Wing journey, combining creativity, strategy, and community in one unforgettable experience.
