This past July, we hosted our second annual GottCon event, and it was an incredible experience! Our mission goes beyond just gathering tabletop enthusiasts; GottCon was created to support the Masonic Youth Orders and to offer a welcoming, introductory convention for those who may have never attended a game convention before. With a focus on accessibility, camaraderie, and community support, GottCon is a space where gamers of all backgrounds can come together for a great cause. Planning is already underway for the next one, and we’re excited to keep growing!

A Unique Goal: Supporting Masonic Youth Orders

At GottCon, gaming is our tool for giving back. Proceeds from the event directly benefit Masonic Youth Orders, which provide invaluable guidance, leadership, and support to young people. Each attendee, by simply playing games and connecting with others, contributes to these programs and helps sustain a positive impact on youth in our community.

An Open Door to the World of Game Conventions

A major part of GottCon’s vision is to introduce the magic of game conventions to newcomers. We understand that conventions can sometimes feel intimidating or overwhelming, especially for first-timers, so we designed GottCon to be a friendly and inclusive environment. New and seasoned players alike could dive into games, meet like-minded individuals, and experience the excitement of a convention, often for the very first time.

Highlights from GottCon 2024

The convention’s lineup was a testament to its accessible spirit, with events and spaces that encouraged both learning and fun. Some of this year’s highlights included:

  • Community Play Events: Cooperative games and fast-paced card battles provided the perfect introduction to the convention scene.
  • Open Tables and Free Play: This space offered everyone, regardless of experience level, the chance to try out games at their own pace, fostering a relaxed, pressure-free atmosphere.
  • Game Demos and Tournaments: Attendees got to learn new games directly from designers and developers, while competitive events allowed players to test their skills in friendly matches.

Looking Ahead: Building GottCon’s Future

With planning already in motion, we’re set on expanding GottCon to make an even bigger impact next year. Our future plans include a larger tournament area, more theme-based game zones, and new opportunities for players of all ages and backgrounds. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back, share new games, and continue supporting our community’s youth.
