Wow, it's been a while since I last posted here! Time flies, and there's so much to catch up on. Between epic game events, ongoing campaigns, and even starting our own mini-convention, I’ve been staying busy in the world of tabletop gaming. Here’s a quick rundown of what I’ve been up to, with plans for more detailed posts (and photos!) to come.

Big Events Recap

Over the past couple of years, I’ve had the chance to host some exciting large-scale events. In 2023, I organized a Stalingrad event using Bolt Action rules, a memorable and intense game set on the Eastern Front that brought the battlefield to life. Then, last year, we ventured into the sci-fi world with a Terminator: Genisys event, which also drew a fantastic crowd. These events have been amazing opportunities to dive into immersive settings, and I can’t wait to share the photos with you all soon.

Now, I’m gearing up for my next big project: a Battle of Scarif event for KublaCon. This scenario will bring together the iconic Star Wars ground battle with players choosing sides as rebels or imperial defenders. Using custom Bolt Action rules adapted for Star Wars, it’s shaping up to be an incredible experience.

Exploring New Games: Space Weirdos & BattleTech

Lately, I’ve been hooked on Space Weirdos, which offers a quirky and flexible miniatures skirmish experience that never fails to deliver fun twists and strategic depth. I’ve also been dabbling in BattleTech, which has been a fun throwback with all the mech combat action that game brings.

GottCon: A New Local Convention

One of the highlights this year has been the launch of our own convention, GottCon! Held here in San Jose in July, it’s a one-day event that serves as an accessible introduction to gaming conventions for newcomers and as a fundraiser for the local Masonic youth groups. It’s been rewarding to bring together new gamers and give back to the community while enjoying a full day of games.

Board Games & Campaigns

While things have been a bit slower on the board game front, we’ve still found time to play a few gems. Some recent favorites include Marvel Dice Throne, Dune: Imperium, and Joan of Arc: Time of Legends. We’re making our way through Joan of Arc’s scenario book right now, and the game’s historical-meets-mythological vibe has me hooked. I’ll be sharing some detailed thoughts and photos from our campaign in a future post.
