Over this last weekend I have gotten back into two projects that I have let sit for a bit. One of them is of my only own doing and the other I had help on.
The British Airborne
In March, I got a bunch of British Airborne from my family for my birthday. I had fiddled with them and done a few things with them but for the most part, I really didn't get anything finished.
I thought about it for a bit and to me it seemed silly that I had done nothing with these. I have been making a push at doing la...

Lead me not into temptation I can find it quite well myself

So last night I went to
Game Kastle for the Monday paint night. When I go I try to buy a little something even if I do not really need anything. They do not charge event or use fees and I feel that by picking something up I am sort of paying my way.
Anyhow I have been eying a World War 2 Rule Set called
Disposable Heroes and Coffin for Seven Brothers. I noticed as I walked around last night that it was in stock so I finally picked it up. Little did I know that I would be coming home with so m...

Motivation
Posted by Jeff Hiatt on Monday, November 16, 2009,
Here I am this morning getting ready for work. Before I had a job that I had to go to every day I found that it was hard to go into the studio and get started every morning.
A few years back there was this movie with
Tom Selleck in it call
Mr. Baseball. It is the story of an aging player that is traded to a Japanese Baseball team. He has lost his swing. Throughout a good portion of the movie his manager (played by the great
Ken Takakura) seems to have him doing everything but hitting Baseball...

Spaghetti Westerns

One of the other types of historical games that I do is the Wild West and the Plains Wars. When I am painting I have relevant movies playing in the background. Today, I was watching a bunch of old Leone Spaghetti Westerns. As I am watching this I got to thinking that why hasn't Tarentino done a Spaghetti Western? I would hear something and think that is something Tarentino would write. I would see a scene and think that is how he would do it. Needless to say you can see a lot of his influence...

My World War 2 Rules Wish List
Posted by Jeff Hiatt on Saturday, November 14, 2009,
I am at the point where a lot of miniatures gamers get to where you are looking at what is out there rules wise and there is nothing that is quite perfect for you.
So here are some of the things that I find important in WW2 Rules.
- Size: What I am looking for is something where I can throw out a company or so per side with tanks, vehicles and guns and play a game in a reasonable amount of time. I am looking to do this with 28mm figures.
- Turn Sequence: I am looking for an alternating turn sequen...

The Rudderless Ship That is My Free Time
Posted by Jeff Hiatt on Saturday, November 14, 2009,
So here I am on a Friday night looking at all of the stuff that I want to do for the weekend and I find myself with an abundance of choices of things to do. My studio is crammed to the gills with commission work, reference materials art supplies and tools.
Then there are my own projects I actually got something of my own done this week. I did up a little Weird War piece for my British Airborne called at R.A.T. I picked it up from the Game Kastle Flea market last weekend along with many other...

The Flying Dutchman returns

Once again it is time for my quarterly blog update.
Today is Veterans Day. Take a minute to think about those that have sacrificed on you behalf to make this a better world. Better yet if you know a veteran (or active duty person) thank them for their service.
So what have I been working on?
WargodsStill working on cooking up more Greek rules. Unfortunately I have not had much in the way of time to play test any of them but they are still being developed. There is no goal for them at this time....
